Membership

The JAINA Membership Committee is responsible for managing and overseeing all membership-related activities, including:

• Membership Eligibility & Admission:
• Verify that prospective Jain Associations meet the criteria for membership (non-sectarian, local entity, minimum 15 families, and alignment with JAINA objectives).
• Facilitate the admission of new Member Associations upon a two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Committee or a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
• Manage the admission of Affiliate organizations as per Article XIII of the Constitution and By-Laws.
• Membership Records & Dues:
• Maintain accurate records of Member Associations and Affiliates in good standing.
• Track payment of annual dues and notify associations of arrears working with secretary and treasurer.
• Ensure that representatives of associations with dues in arrears are informed of the suspension of privileges.
• Resignation & Term Completion:
• Process resignations of Member Associations and clarify conditions regarding dues refunds.
• Ensure that Directors from resigning associations complete their terms but are ineligible to vote, nominate, or hold office following resignation.
• Compliance & Removal:
• Monitor ongoing eligibility of Member Associations to ensure compliance with membership criteria.
• Provide 120 days’ notice to associations failing to meet criteria, allowing them to rectify deficiencies before removal by Board vote.
• Engagement & Support:
• Promote active participation of Member Associations and Affiliates in JAINA programs, initiatives, and elections.
• Serve as a resource for Member Associations to understand By-Laws, membership obligations, and benefits.
