Legal Council

To build a strong, transparent, and legally sound foundation that enables JAINA to operate effectively, responsibly, and sustainably while advancing its organizational mission and initiatives.

Core Mission

To provide strategic legal oversight and guidance that protects JAINA’s interests, strengthens governance, and ensures compliance in support of JAINA’s business operations and long-term organizational success.

Charter

The JAINA Legal Council is established to oversee and support the legal, governance, compliance, and risk management needs of JAINA’s business operations and organizational activities. The Council serves as an advisory and governance body that helps ensure JAINA operates in accordance with applicable laws, nonprofit regulations, and internal policies.

The Council’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal guidance on organizational governance and business matters
  • Reviewing and supporting contracts, agreements, policies, and official documents
  • Assisting with nonprofit compliance, regulatory filings, and legal obligations
  • Advising on risk management, liability protection, and governance best practices
  • Supporting legal aspects of conventions, programs, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinating with external legal counsel and subject matter experts when necessary
  • Assisting with intellectual property, trademarks, branding, and document retention policies
  • Promoting transparency, accountability, ethical practices, and organizational integrity

The JAINA Legal Council will work collaboratively with the Executive Committee, Board, Councils, and Committees to support effective decision-making, protect organizational interests, and strengthen JAINA’s long-term operational and legal framework.
