Jain Academic Bowl

A team-based competition for young Jains which tests knowledge of Jainism, quick response, and a friendly competitive spirit.

Mission Statement

To create a unique experience for the youth of our Jain centers across North America, by bringing them together in a fun, educational game-style format, whereby it allows them to increase their knowledge of Jainism and providing them an opportunity to forge new friendships with the Pathshala students nationwide.

What is JAB

The Jain Academic Bowl, popularly known as JAB, is a team competition for young Jains which is held biennially at the JAINA conventions. This competition tests the overall knowledge of the participants in various areas of Jainism, along with their ability to answer quickly.

Categories include:

  • Junior: 14 years and younger
  • Senior: 21 years and younger
  • Beginner: 14 years and younger (new to JAB)

Accomplishments (Convention 2025)

  • Total Pathshala centers: 10
  • Beginner teams: 8; Junior teams: 8; Senior teams: 5
  • Total participants: 135+; Total Coaches: 40; Total Moderators: 30
  • Total Games played: 55; Total number of hours: 65+

2026-2027 Goals (Dallas Convention)

  • Gearing up for JAINA Convention 2027 in Dallas, Texas.
  • Invite more Pathshala centers including global centers.
  • Create an even better experience for participants and audience.
